Held twice a week starting in early spring, the Downtown Fayetteville Farmers Market brings you the best in locally grown produce, local honey, eggs, fresh flowers and more while the City Market at the Museum displays crafts, art and other items.  Every Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The markets are hosted at the Fayetteville Area Transportation and Local History Museum grounds at 325 Franklin Street.

Monday, May 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

After the Memorial Day Ceremony at Freedom Memorial Park, come across the street and visit the Airborne and Special Operations Museum, North Carolina Veterans Park and the NC Field of Honor!

The Airborne & Special Operations Museum WILL BE OPEN, Monday for Memorial Day. There will be displays of military vehicles from the WWII, Korea, and Vietnam eras. The United States Army Golden Knights will be on hand from 10 to 1 signing autographs and performing parachute pack demonstrations. Come meet and greet with members of the most prestigious demonstration team of our armed forces.

Memorial Day Ceremony at Freedom Memorial Park, 101 Bragg Blvd, on Monday, 27 May, at 10:00 AM.

This colorful event has been received well over the years with attendance increasing each year.

Bleacher seating is available but it quickly fills up so lawn chairs will probably come in handy.

A Symphonic Salute to the U.S. Armed Forces

May 26, 2013 7:30 pm, Festival Park, Fayetteville

The Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra is pleased to present a free concert to remember the service of our armed forces. The Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra will perform a piece titled “Quiet Heroes”  in remembrance of the flag raisers of Iwo Jima. The composer, Chris Brubeck, will be present and the piece will be narrated live by Wilford Brimley. The Army Ground Forces Band will perform with the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra for a variety of patriotic selections.

This concert is free and open to the public. No tickets required.

Saturday, May 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The World Famous Horses known as the "Gentle Giants" will be visiting the Airborne & Special Operations Museum. Anheuser-Busch will present the eight-horse Budweiser Clydesdale hitch allowing photo opportunities in front of the museum. The Clydesdale team last visited the museum in 2005. They will be surprised how we have changed. Standing tall in front of the Iron Mike statue, this will be the first time these two icons are together.

4th Friday continues to be a true celebration of the arts and downtown. Folks of all ages get a taste of Fayetteville's art and entertainment while enjoying the small galleries, bookstores, bistros and shops with unique items for shoppers. Sponsored by the Downtown Alliance and the Arts Council. 6-10pm

The family-friendly Friday evening outdoor* concert series returns to the Garden! Live entertainment from 6:30 to 8:30p.m. Food by Elliotts Catering Co. of Pinehurst available for purchase. Beer and wine also for purchase with proceeds from sales to benefit the Garden. Save these dates, you will want to grab a blanket or lawn chair and join us:

Join for a very special book signing for the book Battery! C. Lenton Sartain and the Airborne Gis of the 319th Glider Field Artillery. The book is based on in-depth interviews conducted by the author with twenty surviving members of this unit, and is centered on the perspective of their charismatic Battery Commander, Captain Charles Lenton Sartain of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Prior to the book signing Mr. Covais will present a short documentary on the making of the book and have a brief question and answer period.

Event Description:

Fayetteville After 5 takes place in Fayetteville’s concert destination: Festival Park. Gates open at 5pm with opening acts beginning at either 5:30 or 6:00pm. Headlining acts usually begin at 7 or 7:30pm with the sounds of the summer carrying until around 10:30 pm. No outside food or beverages are allowed within the park. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival.

Fayetteville After 5 is now a Dogwood Festival Sponsored event.

On Saturday May 11 from 1-8 p.m., the Downtown Alliance will have horse-drawn carriage rides in honor of Mother’s Day. Each carriage ride will take passengers around historic downtown and last about 20 minutes. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children under 12 and may be purchased in advance by calling 910-678-8899 or from City Center Gallery & Books at 112 Hay Street.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office will hold the Annual Peace Officers Memorial at 8 a.m. at the Cumberland County Courthouse. 7-9am

The 10th Annual Blues 'n Brews Festival
