Position: Cool Spring Ambassador Supervisor

Overview:
Cool Spring Downtown District partnered with the City of Fayetteville to hire a Cool Spring Ambassador with the following goals:
- Improve the cleanliness of downtown
- Improve the sense of safety in the downtown
- Increase hospitality in the downtown
The role of Cool Spring Ambassadors requires a unique combination of skills. Ambassadors must demonstrate strong verbal communication, de-escalation and conflict resolution skills, a caring and compassionate approach to their work, and a customer service focus. During a shift, Cool Spring Ambassadors will engage with a wide range of situations, to include providing support for individuals experiencing homelessness or mental health issues, educating people regarding local ordinances, interacting with business owners and residents, and assisting downtown visitors who need directions or suggestions. To succeed in this role, a candidate must possess the resiliency to maintain a calm and professional demeanor through the highs and lows of the day. This may be the most challenging and rewarding job you will ever love.
Work is conducted outdoors year-round in downtown Fayetteville, during all weather conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patrol the designated zone of the downtown core and provide a variety of support services to members of the public by creating a positive experience for
- Build relationships with people experiencing homelessness to check on their well-being and assist in connecting them with services. Report unwanted behaviors to police for Build relationships with downtown businesses, residents, and property owners to share information and assist with problem-solving
- Provide directions, maps, handouts and information to tourists, visitors, residents, and local
- Utilize computer and hand-held mobile device to collect data and track daily work activities and generate reports.
- Litter: Debris will be removed from sidewalks, alleys and street Debris includes loose trash, cigarette butts, sediment and loose rock. Ambassadors will assist in maintaining a clean downtown by removing litter using manual cleaning methods.
- While on normal cleaning rounds Ambassadors will be trained to tend to nearly every detail they might encounter in the public right of way to include: Damp wipe public fixtures, such as trashcans and benches to create a clean
- Graffiti: Graffiti, public fixtures, utility boxes and signs will be documented and reported to See-Click-Fix to be
- Sanitation Management: Refresh commercial dumpster pads weekly. Report and catalog illegal dumping.
- Special projects will be initiated to tackle issues that are overlooked or items that can leave a lasting impression on stakeholders in the Downtown. Special project opportunities include: Painting of street fixtures to include utility boxes, benches, light poles, etc. Cleaning of tree wells and mulching, installation of banners, special event support,
- Safety Escorts: Ambassadors can meet downtown employees or visitors at their location and escort them to their destination within the
Work on special assignments both as individuals and as part of a team and use courtesy, tact, and good judgement in working with members of the public.
Qualifications
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and be able to hear and write in English.

- Time management skills and self-discipline to work independently and remain on task without constant
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. English required; additional language proficiencies a

Compensation:
Starts at $15/hr.

Position: Trolley Driver
The Cool Spring Downtown District Inc. is a charitable, nonprofit corporation formed in 2017 to create and sustain an arts and entertainment district located in downtown Fayetteville, North Carolina, as a vibrant center of artistic, cultural, civic, and commercial activity. The Cool Spring Downtown District itself—Fayetteville’s growing destination for art and entertainment—is a 0.55 square mile district in the central core of the city. The District hosts over 100 businesses and award-winning restaurants, nationally renowned museums, a growing residential population, over $150 million in public/private investment in two years, and is being considered for the region’s newest performing arts center, a likely investment of over $40 million. The District is also home to the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, a Class A Advanced minor league affiliate of the Houston Astros, who play in their $38 million ballpark opening April 18, 2019.
Cool Spring Transport, LLC. Trolley Driver
This position will be responsible for driving the Can-Do Coldwell Banker Trolleys for historic tours, downtown circulator routes, themed tours (like History tours) and private rentals. Trolleys are a new form of transportation in Downtown Fayetteville and today’s trolley requires a CDL instead of rails. We believe it is still the best way to travel through town. While driving the trolley you will learn about the city’s history, find out the best places to eat, and show-off the most unique vehicle in town. If you enjoy traveling in style and are excited about the idea of teaching others and/or learning about the city of Fayetteville, this job is perfect for you. Typical Qualifications · Applicants should be customer service oriented and comfortable working with all demographics. · Applicants must have some weekend and evening availability. Some weekday availability is a plus, but not required. · Applicants must have a CDL license with a passenger endorsement and air brake endorsement, a clean driving record, and be able to pass a background check. Additional Information This job is part-time at 15-20 hours a week. The number of hours available to work varies seasonally and according to the driver’s availability.
