Call for Art: Fayetteville 2030

Description

Cool Spring Downtown District (CSDD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing arts, entertainment, and economic opportunity in Downtown Fayetteville. It serves as administrator of the Arts & Entertainment District and Municipal Service District, focusing on: Economic Vitality, Marketing & Promotions, Design & Placemaking, Programs & Events and Community Advocacy.

Art Alley, located at 222 Hay Street next to the CSDD office, is a high-traffic pedestrian passage connecting Hay Street and Old Street. It functions as an outdoor gallery visited daily by residents and visitors, transforming a public walkway into a space for art, dialogue, and community connection.

For this exhibition, North Carolina artists are invited to imagine Downtown Fayetteville in 2030.

What might our downtown become? How will art, design, technology, green space, culture, business, and community shape its future? We encourage bold, hopeful, and imaginative interpretations of a thriving Fayetteville.

Original artwork and photography will be considered. The Art Alley features a Banner Trak system with five (5) display spaces measuring 45″ × 70″. Selected works will be professionally printed on outdoor vinyl and installed for approximately six months.

Honorarium: $200 per selected artist (five artists total).

Eligible Artwork

We seek high-resolution digital files of original 2D visual artwork suitable for large-scale outdoor reproduction.

Eligible media can include: painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, collage, fiber/textile art, digital illustration, graphic design, photography, and other 2D visual work.

Photography is welcome and has historically represented a large portion of submissions. However, this year we especially encourage artists working in other media to consider how their practice can expand the vision of Fayetteville 2030. We welcome painting, illustration, mixed media, fiber-based work, and experimental approaches that move beyond traditional photographic interpretation. All work must be submitted as a high-resolution file (minimum 300 dpi) and be scalable to 45″ × 70″.
